Visa Exempt By Air - Can I Get 30 Days at Mae Sae?

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

I'm a little unclear on the new rules. I understand that we're now limited to one visa exemption by land. What I'm not clear on is if I came in by air and got a 30 day visa exemption, can I then go to Mae Sae and get a second one? Since the first was by air. Or are we allowed one visa exemption total, in which case I need to go to Vientien to get a real visa?

Living in Chiang Mai, US passport.

Thanks!

Edit: By visa exempt I mean visa on arrival. I was told it's technically a visa exemption not a visa on arrival, so I used that term instead.

It is a visa exempt entry, not a visa on arrival.

You probably get a visa exempt entry at Mai Sai, if they don't they will not allow you to leave to Myanmar so than you could go to Laos (with a small overstay).

It helps if you have a ticket showing a return to the US, to show you do not intend to stay long time in Thailand.

There is no one entry rule. At the moment it is is 3. You can get a new visa exempt entry at Mae Sai.
