May 31, 201412 yr Hi. Have a question for you. I've noticed in the past that if one has a slower wifi connections,Magic Jack tend to sound distorted and breaks up a lot. Have you had success using your Magic Jack in your hotel rooms in Thailand and Philippines? And like what it proudly advertise, that your calls from abroad shows up as a number that one has from America where I purchased it and registered. I like to make an important call and I want it to be crystal clear. thank you Chang Beer.
June 1, 201412 yr I would recommend using a known good, reliable non-public WiFi connection preferably one over which you have total account control. I'd also recommend using a PC (assuming you have the older version) with a cabled ethernet connection, rather than WiFi. With a shared public WiFi connection you may/will not have the requisite bandwidth; obviously if the chap in the next room starts to stream a YouTuibe video your call may break-up/terminate. A 3G connection might be preferable to a shared WiFi connection? You really need a solid, reliable, jitter-tolerant connection of at least 100 Kbps both up and down. Yes, your ten digit telephone number associated with your mJ in the U.S. does and will get passed as the CPID to the called party, which depending on their equipment, would be displayed on their device. If you need to make an important, crystal-clear call then I would suggest using a land-line and a calling card; your CPID would show as an odd or unique number, but often it appears as a ten digit number associated with the VoIP gateway in the U.S. Can't speak for the Philippines, all my experience is with mJ here in Thailand.
