I just ran across this facility yesterday. I haven't been there yet, but met the lady running the place while I was at a business function. I'm heading over there later this week to check it out.

I thought I'd post this as I know this topic comes up a fair amount.

I have seen this sort of service as a potentially very big market for some time. Strange that their website has so little English content.

There seems to be only one certified doctor in the facility, who specialises in general medicine. The other 3 have certificates in homeopathy, acupuncture and cosmetology. But a large number of pretty nurses which might be of more help to geriatrics.

I've read about one out near Lake Maprachan, and a few others around town. But the "others" seem to have gone out of business. No answers to emails and the phone numbers listed don't work.

I think this is pretty new. Had a conversation with the lady in the pics in the grand opening section. Her English is fine. Seems like a very nice lady. But the grand opening could have been last year. I don't know.

I'm fast approaching needing a facility like this for my Mom. Only so much we can do at home now that she's hit severe/late stage Alzheimer's.

I think it was either Swiss or Scandinavian patients who were being sent there and having the bill covered by their social security service back home. Also some interviews with other farangs who had put relatives in there and were footing the bill themselves (the bill being much lower here than it would have been in their home country of course). Not as convenient for you as Bang Saray but maybe worth investigating.

I've been looking for doctors that specialize in geriatrics here for several years. I've done tons of research and even met the guy who works for the government who is in charge of this (a doc himself). There is one at Bumrungrad that is pretty good, but he's the only one I've found.

I researched facilities like this back home in the US before bringing my mom over here. Most only have RNs on staff. And even then, it's normally only one or two looking out for a dozen or so customers. Docs come in at various times, but never on duty full time unless you are talking about a hospital facility.

I saw that article about the one in Chiang Mai for Europeans. It's quite expensive. There's another one up there that was started by a guy from the UK. Looks like a really nice facility and the prices seemed more reasonable. But that one for the Europeans looked really nice!!

I stopped by today and have to say I was impressed. It's a very nice facility and the prices are quite reasonable. If you want the large VIP room with 24/7 care by a personal nurse, it's only 50k per month.

They have experience with Alzheimers patients. Have one in residence right now.

Very nice facility, nice ocean breeze, very nice staff. Worth a look if you need something like this.

I taught a Medical English course at her (K.Ting's) Chonburi Health Care School about 8 years ago in Dtao Tahn...They have since moved to near (before) the Sattahip Technical College on the left side going towards Pattaya from Bangsaray. Some of her graduates work at her nursing home as well. Also, another nursing home (RPB) in Sattahip, Kilo 8 run by K. Wirot. It has air conditioning in the main room whereas Z-Breeze has only fans. That place looks great. But not cheap. Up to 50k if you want Western food. I'd hate to think what the charge would be for a full time caregiver.

Well, it's less than 2000 baht a day...about the cost of an average hotel room in Pattaya, and includes 24/7 nursing care as well as all meals. Good luck finding a place to live, get 3 meals a day, plus 24/7 caregiver for that price. They also have a full time QUALIFIED physical therapist and a massage lady who comes in 2-3x per week. Those services are included as well and my friend gets very good care there.

This is an issue all expats should consider, however. The cost of your long-term care when old or incapacitated, Thai family care, return to Farangland plan for care, or join the Pattaya Flying Club if no funds.

The place I listed does all of the above for the same amount.

Well it would be more like 2 or 3 people for 24/7 care. Don't forget food and especially adult diapers (they ain't cheap) and several are needed per day for patients that need them (unless you want to sit/sleep in your own feces and urine). Then there is your food costs and then utilities. of course, this all presumes one is even in a position to find an honest and competent care giver in the first place.

We have a live in and a full time maid, and my wife and I still have to step in and help out from time to time. The Z Breeze facility does 2 shifts of 12 hours each.

It very much depends on the type of care required. There are "assisted living" facilities around that provide just room and board for those who don't want to or are unable to do these things for themselves. One may also be able to find a maid to do these services on a live-in or out basis. Of course, one may loose their maid or girlfriend at any time and find it difficult to find another at a vulnerable time of life.

These nursing homes provide more of a medical setting for those that need them. They provide medical monitoring and medicine provision, as well as coordinating continuing hospital care when needed. It is important to choose a nursing home carefully, however, as there are "horror" stories out there where very vulnerable people are just abused and milked for their money and are often not in the physical or mental position to do anything about it.
