Popular Post CharlesHH
Maybe I want to believe, but it seems like more actual arrests for crimes are happening now under the Army rule.
anon467848
Wood smuggling seems to be big news, yesterday the teak story and today rosewood.... These guys obviously didn't have contacts in high places, unlike a certain ex-MP in Chiang Mai...

Seastallion
Ripped shirt. Don't tell me he got a bit stroppy? Is THAT why they refused his bribe, rather sacrifice 50 000 and see his ass go down?
worgeordie
Why do they find the wood, logs AFTER they have been cut, never hear of anyone actually caught red handed cutting the trees down, and i suppose the confiscated wood will be burnt regards Woegeordie

Go and read the Phnom Penh post to see just how many illegal Cambodian loggers, who have crossed illegally into Thai territory (sometimes without knowing) have been shot dead by the Thai military whilst logging or attempting to log rosewood and then whose families were told to pay 10,000 Baht otherwise their bodies won't be handed over and instead burnt inside Thailand. There have been many dozens of shootings of illegal Cambodian loggers that have resulted in deaths over the past couple of years. The Thai army kills first, no questions asked. In the unlikely event the Cambodian loggers make it back to their side with the wood, bribes are demanded by the Cambodian authorities or the wood is confiscated.

Yes, the Thai's quite clearly have a shoot to kill order in place for the Cambodian's. Disgraceful.

I have long wondered about this practice and enforcement. Thanks for your insight.

Perhaps you'd like to give lessons to the Thai Army on shooting to maim / incapacitate in poor light / visibility on a two-way range...
