I need to change to a non O as mentioned in the title as I will be leaving my Job soon. I have the income to prove and savings to show as required, I'm married and have a daughter, but my question is about using an agency to deal with the transfer.

Has anyone used an agency to handle the work? For me, it is just the time and hassle which I wish to avoid. Lazy, I know, but I'd rather put my time elsewhere.

Thanks In advance

You cannot change visas.

You will change the reason for your extension of stay (it is not a visa) from working to one based upon marriage to a Thai.

Up to you on using an agent. Both sponsors of this forum can assist you with the application for the new extension of stay.

I would do it yourself. It will cost you and not save you a lot of time when you use an agency. You still need to apply yourself, together with your wife and collect all required documents yourself.

I have a kind of similar situation.

I will be returning to Thailand on June 18th using my existing Non imm O visa based on marriage which expires on July 18th.

Does that leave me enough time to get the 12 months extension based on marriage if I do it myself or through agent?

I'm thinking about an agent too as I just made a big purchase and screwed up my bank balance - oops.

i have a work permit but don't want my permission to stay based on that.

Thanks for any info.

edit: this is at Jomtien

There is no real need for any assistance as the process is simple.

Just make sure that you have all the required paperwork and your wife and witness ready for the extension application.

The required paperwork is discussed in depth on this forum and can be easily found but is a good thing to confirm that your local immigration office is not asking something extra.

For the extension you either show an income of 40,000 baht a month (can be from abroad) OR you show 400,000 baht in a bank account in your name in Thailand. An agency cannot change that requirement.

If your income is 40,000 or more you can get the extension based on marriage.
