Land visa run - holiday

Featured Replies

Maybe not the correct forum but I must do a land run this month from Bangkok and want to take a few days break. Any suggestions as to the best land border to go to that is reasonably close to a beach.....I wanna kill two birds with one stone. Run and holiday.

The only one I can think of is Hat Lek in Trat province to Cambodia. You could go to Sihanoukville from there.

If you are not too concerned about the beach Kanchanaburi is a really nice place to relax for a couple days and its inexpensive. We don't have a beach but we sure do have a ton of rivers and waterfalls.

Or just stay in Koh Kong, just 10km from the border. Plenty of things to do there and beautiful beaches, hiking etc. if you go on a tour. The town itself is a grubby fishing town, but for beaches you head a little out of town or to the islands.

With respect to the OP I am came across this tread searching for air visa run combined with holiday. Can anyone recommend a short flight but interesting or fun destination to stay for a week or so while also seeking a multi entry visa? Double at least or maybe a triple if possible. Considerations should include expense conservation, ease of visa app and success likelihood and also the allure of the nearby country. Thanks in advance. Apologies to the OP for the piggy back. wai2.gif I am currently here on a double from the US.

Two entry tourist visas are done in Vientiane or Savannakhet Laos.

You can get a 3 entry visa in Bali. You will need tickets for each entry to apply but they can be 90 days apart.

Hanoi has been reported as doing a 2 entry if you have a ticket out for the entries.

You might consider what I want to do. Ho Chi MInh City (I suppose you can get a Thai Visa there) and a trip to the beach on the Vietnam Coast. I am thinking Nha Trang. I think there is an airport near Nha Trang as well. Alternatively, visit the beach in Vung tau

You can apply for a Vietnamese Visa on Arrival Online and they will send it as an attachment to an email. Then present it at the airport there to get you stamp.

I think there are many people who have done this...I would like to hear about it. I want to get a Non Immigrant O 90 day.

Thanks for the quick replies. Ubonjoe, by "tickets" do you mean to say I need to have flights pre-booked for future extension requirements? This seems rather confining. Does this eliminate the possibility of doing land crossings for re entry stamps? Also, while the Singapore Thai Embassy takes Singapore currency I see that Bali Thai Embassy only accepts USD. Where does one acquire US currency in Thailand in preparation for this requirement?

You need a confirmed ticket out for each entry. They will accept them 90 days apart so you can get the 30 day extension.. If you buy tickets to a nearby country in advance you can find them for about the same price as a border run costs. Malaysia is a good choice for the flight because their is no visa fee.

They now accept Indonesian currency. They no longer accept dollars.
