Do any South Africans out there have recent experience getting a Non-O visa from any surrounding nations?

I hear that Cambodia is near impossible and, in Laos, can depend on many factors (weather, skin color, etc).

Any experiences in Malaysia, Indonesia or Hong Kong? Or any other options?
