EOD continues searching for evidence in city canal

BANGKOK: -- Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) police, soldiers and charity foundation volunteers continued to search for evidence in Klong Padung Krungkasem canal near Government House for the third consecutive days Friday after the discovery of a human skeleton and skull inside a green bag dumped into the canal.

There was trace of fracture on the human skull indicating the victim was assaulted and murdered before the body was thrown into the canal.

The skull was discovered Wednesday when EOD and Ruam Katunyoo charity foundation divers combed the canal bed for weapon after anti-government protesters seizing Government House for almost half year dispersed after the military coup on May 22.

Residents near Government House told the police they saw protesters dumped many things into the canal before abandoning the occupied area which included Chamai Maruchet bridge where the skull and skeleton were found along with a number of homemade bombs, firecracker bombs, and ping pong bombs were found beneath the bridge.

Police said there was strong possibility of murder as the human skull was fractured.

Two police sniffing dogs also joined the search today but until late in the morning no additional evidence was recovered from the canal bed.

Only cut barbed wires which protesters removed and destroyed were found.

Search will continue from the canal in front of Wat Benjamabopit temple to Orathai bridge.

Good news and another example of a partisan military that is doing what it can to actively uphold justice and hold people accountable.

The people know it and that explains Thai confidence improving, consumer sentiment recovering and stocks and local currency gains.

Lets hope for fast progress on the mystery surrounding the victims death and the arrests of any wrong doers involved.

Skull, human skeleton?

So, no 'body parts' in a bag. Starts to look like the skeleton found in the UDD bus which was torched by students begin of this year.

I'm surprised they're still looking.

All they have to do is contact a certain ex-Bangkok Post columnist who 'knows' everything that happened. thumbsup.gif

I have no idea what you are hinting at as a snark, and find it rather off-topic to boot.

When this story broke there were dozens of pro-yellows claiming the finds were red shirt setups, despite the articles claiming "residents reported seeing the PDRC dumping things into the canal".

Suddenly, the yellow psuedo-voice is silenced by facts.

Again. Picking a side in this fight is like deciding between Beelzebub and Mephistopheles.

hate to tell you this but for a body to become a skeleton inside a bag would take a bot more time than a few months so the chances of it being dumped recently by protesters is getting a bit remote, it may have been there for years for all we now as last time they said a body, now its a skull and skeleton, possibly not attached. No weapons a few fireworks and possible bombs, maybe if they had found grenades, m79's, m16's etc they would be able o do something more but at this stage that is looking remote but a nice try to try to take the heat from your brethren. By the way, supporters of the protest group was not yellows, mostly ordinary citizens but I know that doesnt sound as good for a bitch session
