Advice needed Urgently.....

I need to extend my marriage extension on June 17th but my passport expires the middle of August..

The British passport service is a shambles and a mess and still awaiting my new passport 9 weeks on from when I applied on April 10th..

Will I be able to get an Extension of marriage with 2 months on my old passport or will they refuse me when I turn up at immigration??

Best wishes David

You can get an extension for the validity of your passport under the new policy AFAIK but will have to get a new extension in the new passport when received.

So does that mean I have to pay 2x or do they transfer the extension from the old passport to the new??

Thanks Lopburi

Under new policy you pay twice AFAIK.

Lopburi, you are the expert in these matters and I am no expert at all, but when I extend my stay based on marriage, they simply stamp me with an extension dated 1 month later and tell me to return then and have the extension stamped in my passport. So I would suspect that they would simply stamp the OPs passport to return to immigration 17th July or thereabouts. So the Op would have another 4 weeks to get his new passport??? Or does the system not work like that???

The date for the extension will be set when the application is processed. Even after the 30 days it would still be shortened.

I suggest rather than going through all the paperwork twice you get a 60 day extension to visit your wife if your passport is not here in time.

Don't I have to then leave the country to obtain a Non Visa to be able to get an Extension of marriage??? If so that's even worse and more costly..

The 60 day extension would keep your original visa entry valid that you have been extending. You would not have to go out for a new visa.

You would just apply for your extension during the last 30 days of the 60 day extension using your new passport after you have had your stamps transferred from the old one.

The only problem that could occur is if you have had a 60 day extension before on that entry.

No never had a 60 day Extension on this entry, so what you say sounds a better way to go..

Thanks Joe..
