Local dealer in my village wants 38.000 baht for Daikin 12000 BTU, inverter, supplied and fitted. 29.500 baht for Mitsubushi of the same. I think he is a bit expensive for the Daikin which I prefered. Is there a big difference in the reliability and economy between the two? Is 29.500 Baht a fair price for the Mitsubushi?

Daikin are the Rolls Royce of A/C units. I paid 27,000 for the same unit 7 years back. ..............smile.png

paid about 21,000 for the mitsubishi about 7-8 years ago

I thought I was getting a bargain for the Daikin at 28000 Baht, but I wanted an inverter and the price jumped to 38000. Baht.

It would seem then that 28.500 is maybe a bit on the expensive side.

Mines an inverter.

Calling inverter experts. Do you have any views on this. I mentioned to the guy who services and cleans my aircons that I was thinking of replacing an old unit with an inverter type. He advised me not to do this. He said the inverters have a control box with a circuit board and if a chingchog gets inside it will short out and will be 12,000 baht to replace. He had seen this happen on several occasions apparently. Is this just BS. I have the average number of these lovely creatures as any household. If it's true, can't the box be made bugproof.

I would suggest that all A/C units have printed circuits somewhere. Seven years on the clock with mine and all is well............thumbsup.gif
