Soon to be applying for a Non immig B visa.... questions

Featured Replies

I have accepted a job at a uni and they have given me all the documents and I will be going to a thai consulate to get a non immig B visa. All the doc's are obviously in thai and thus I wanted to ask should I be asking for a single entry non immig B or a multiple entry (1 year?) Or can I only apply for what my employer has stated on the letters?

I read on another thread:

''A one year Non B multi entry visa that is still valid allows multiple exits and re-entries for that one year period.

A visa is different from the extension you will get for employment.

A visa will stay valid for the term of it's validity ..... one year from when it was issued.

So even if you lose or quit your job after 6 months..... and therefore lose you work permit and extension based on employment, your one year multi-entry visa is still good.

You can stay in country until it expires.

In most cases your extension based on employment and your work permit come to an end when you lose or quit your job.''

Thus, in case I have to leave the country and re enter it seems that Im best to get a 1 year non immig B multiple entry. Is this correct? Can I apply for this or is it pre-determined by the documentation requirements.

Also, Im working for a govt uni. When I showed my boss the fact that I might have to supply company financials etc he said no bc this is a govt uni. Is this correct?

thanks

When I get the 1 year work permit will I have to do 90 day reporting?

Unless you already have a work permit you will not get a multiple entry non-b visa within the region.

Your paperwork will only get you a single entry visa.

If you got a multiple entry visa it would require leaving the country every 90 days. If you extended one of 90 day permit to stays from the visa you could not use the visa to enter the country because that entry would cancel out your extension. You would have to get a re-entry permit to keep your extension valid. Only after tossing your job would the visa again be useful.

Edit: The work permit has nothing to do with 90 day reports. When you get an extension of stay you have to make reports if you stay in the country for more than 90 days.
