Razzamatazz, 2 resorts were shown in the video. The second one Phanueng Resort, arranges kayaking trips and brings the tourists up to the Mani village. And yes, I'll bring some food and cash and cigarettes to hand out. Maybe even some KFC.

After western treatment of supposed ppl of lower bearing like the africans who were enslaves now they suddenly become the great enlightened ones teaching 3rd world ppl on how to treat these people?

I don't see them being enslaved or thai people harrassing them in fact they are being helped. What happened to the natives of the US, canada, australia to name a few places that farang now populate.

I get that it seems hypocritical, but the people who were participating in slave trading in the west are long gone.

I haven't watched the video yet. Hopefully Thais do help them. But there is absolutely a bad attitude towards dark skin here. Not amongst all Thai people, but it is there for sure. Dark skin is largely seen as an unattractive quality by locals. Many of my Thai friends will confess they are afraid of foreigners with dark skin. I worked in an office that flat out wouldn't hire foreigners with dark skin. And they had no shame admitting it.

It's the same in the west isn't it?

They just don't do it openly because anti racist groups in the US are very strong supporting black people.

Go to any football match in europe and you see it.

As for thais being afraid of foreigners with dark skin.

I don't know take africans for example.

They cheat and everything.

Not sure what you're trying to say about Africans, but, yes, it does happen in the west. It also happens within various communities in the west. For example, light skinned Africans can be seen as better and more desirable people within the African community. The odd thing in TH is the fear. Thais frequently talk about dark skinned foreigners like they're boogeymen.

Don't know about that. The thing is it seems that most people the world over think that about darker skinned people even dark skinned people themselves like you mention how africans themselves treat the ones amongst themselves that are fairer as better. Perhaps it's human nature.

Anyway no matter what the thais think of darker skinned people at least they didn't build seperate bath rooms, serving places etc for darker skinned people. Just 50-60 years back it was like that in the US. The funny thing is that despite it happening so recently and how it has been abolished the westerners are suddenly so full of self righteousness. Weren't they the ones stealing stuff from africans and colonising them?

One of the oft-overlooked facts about the slave trade is that "Europeans" were not responsible for it -- they merely took on the mantle of a "distribution service" for the many locals who were already enslaving and selling their neighbours. I suppose that is marginally better than the Maori who would eat them. That was going on remarkably recently - look it up.

Back to the Negritos -- there are so many small tribes/big families scattered throughout the undeveloped world, all of whom have only a sketchy oral tradition and who are seen by civilisation as " gettingin the way" of developments. Look at the situation of the unknown tribes in the Amazon Basin. In another thread we were discussing the invariable but sad progress of conquests and re-conquests of the land, and man's continuous obliteration of anything that can not be "used".

Tiktok has some much better and realistic videos about them,  not like the "eco-tourism" exploitative kitsch you find about them on you tube
