Not sure (and sorry) if I've posted this is the wrong place. But next year, south east Asians have freedom of movement and labour like Europe has? Is that correct? I hope it works better for them than it did for us. It destroyed the UK, and still is.

The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) has no freedom of movement agreement as part of it, It in no way can be compared to Europe.

There are only a few professions that will find it easier to get work permit and visas.

Most foreigners on here complaining about foreigners back home, are not taking advantage of a welfare system in their adopted country.

Also, most TV members are not working here. So it's not really quaint but relevant to the OPs subject !!

Exactly. The abuse of benefits, the NHS, Schools, Housing system. (I don't get any of these privileges in Thailand. I pay my way and more. Same as all of us in Thailand. )

I think the gist of his comment was the loss of jobs to the British to foreign workers, most of us retire here and create jobs and bring money into the country where as those foreign workers in Britain send the money out of the country

On the other hand, 'they' also do jobs that a lot of our precious youth won't get out of bed for, are filling the demographic gap that is a result of the lamentable native birtt rate, and will therefore underpin the value of the pension funds that pay those expat pensions.
