Show cash to enter Thaialnd?

Featured Replies

It is an old rule, now used to refuse people who continously stay in Thailand entry if they can't show the money.

Not quite new.

A while ago there was a story about certain nationalities (e.g. Vietnamese) to show funds in cash at Arayaprathet border.

A far as I remember the requirement was dropped.

BTW, not only in Thailand:

Thais who travel to South Korea [Republic of Korea] (visa excempt) are asked to show cash on the distinction of the immigration officer.

Its well known that some of these "tourists" are actually going to work illegally.

Tit for tat?
