The (in)famous 20.000 baht

Featured Replies

Tomorrow i will do a border run at the new Kanchanaburi border as i told in the proper topic.I so sorry if i open a new one,but i have read in many foreigners forum about the request of showing the 20.000 baht when u will re-enter in Thailand.I no have that amount with me now.On my passport i have just a border run done at Pong Nam Ron border and one 7 days extension?Whats the matter of that?Ubon joe(kind as always)in the proper post answered me that should be no problem about obtaining the new 30 days stamp. But what about the time?Have to show them? Thanks for any answer

It always helps to be prepared for any possibility, we all know what they have asked for in the past be ready to answer their request.

I forget to write that i have a return ticketr for me and my family on 4th of July...could be enough for them, instead, eventually, showing the money?

An ATM receipt will also work. BTW, I believe a visa exemption only requires 10,000B

Why is it terrible advice? Every immigration official acts differently. The only option is to wait and see and hope for the best..

There have been no reports of the Kanchanaburi crossing asking to see any amount of money. There were reports of them only giving some people only 7 days. Having a ticket out does help.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Can one show foreign currency, such as US dollars instead of baht?

You show USD or any other currency as long as it is equal to 20k baht or more.
