A huge haul of wooden planks was found in a kamnan's house

BANGKOK: -- About 3,700 wooden planks worth two million baht were found in the compound of the house of a wellknown kamnan in Phetchabun province by a combined force of the army, police, forestry and local administration officials today (Wednesday).

The raid of the house of Mr Ruechai Tuangnoi, kamnan of Tambon Nam Chun, Lomsak district was a follow-up of an earlier search of the house of Mr Panom Pholloi, headman of Village 10, Tambon Nam Chun. 50 illegal logs were found hidden behind the headman’s house.

The same force later went to the house of Kamnan Ruechai for a search which uncovered 3,700 wooden planks which were believed to be used to build a house which is under construction in Ruechai’s compound.

The officials asked the kamnan to show documents about how he acquired such a huge haul of wooden planks and they were told that the timber was bought from a saw mill and villagers.

The kamnan and his wife were charged with illegal possession of timber and operating an illegal sawmill. The wooden planks were also impounded.

Now what was that comment concerning ''as thick as two short planks?''

One can but hope though that the sap(s) from the impounded planks along with the incarcerated planks is being cared for properly too.whistling.gif

Another Thai military petty bust.

While I have serious concerns about the coup boys real intentions and busts like this may seem minor, it is still much more than we could EVER expect from the Thai police, who would just be seeking re numeration from the Kamnan to sweep it under the table.

In Thailand you hardly see a very tall and old tree. Thais dont care at all about the nature and just cut down trees for no reason.

Once I took my GF to several cities in Malaysia, and she was impressed why there are so many 100 year old trees as wide as a bus, and none to see in Thailand ever.

Another Thai military petty bust (against a politically correct target of course).

Another petty snark at Thaksin -- if you do not love Suthep and the Junta you must love the man in Dubai.

Yawn. Maybe the cheerleaders should go downtown and cheer, oops, sorry that's illegal now....

Wood is a basic constrution material since mankind walked on the world , Thailand has a shortage of it .

So reduce the absurd high import tax on wood , enough wood available in Europe and Russia .

Aslong as there is a shortage in Thailand they will log illegally .

Decent sized house he is building. What does he do for a crust?

The only thing I couldn't really understand is where the 3700 planks will go in a concrete house. Even wood floors wouldn't take all that. Surely quality timber (as is implied by the story) would be used to build a traditional Thai-style wooden house?

Don't be silly... There are already enough things from Russia in Thailand, and most of them are illegal.
