100 'illegals' rounded up in Mae Sot
The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- The authorities yesterday rounded up some 100 undocumented migrant workers - four of whom tested positive for drugs - in tambon Tha Sai Laud Tak's Mae Sot district.

The operation, led by Mae Sot clerk Kriengsak Boontapaun, was carried out at Ban Rim Mei and Ban Huai Moung, areas known for having many Myanmar migrant workers. The illegal workers were transferred to Mae Sot Police Station for further legal action.

"transferred to Mae Sot Police Station for further legal action." Standing room only in the cells!

Are not all illegals treated the same? Cambodia is encouraged to send workers.

These Burmese people's general was just here bonding with Thai generals and now they arrest his people? What is really going on?

I know some Burmese and they are excited by Laos government issuing passports to its people for 120 baht each, they are hopeful that Burma will do something similar.

I want a maid so I am also hopeful that they will make it possible for me to have one legally without too much trouble.

What happened to the Thai and Burmese generals hugging and kissing in yesterday's news? The Burmese aren't the same as the Cambodians? What's with the Thais?
