Single Non Imm B To Multiple

Featured Replies

i have seen on several threads that it is "best" to apply for the non imm in your own country.

i have also read that the Thai embassy/consulate in Laos does not issue multiple entry b's

My question is that if this is the case once you are in thailand is it possible to change the single entry that they will apparently grant to a multiple entry? If so how many hoops do you need to jump through and does anyone know the costs involved?

Thanks

**edited** to add that in this case the person in question is from laos, hence the query about the Thai embassy/consulate in Laos

I've heard consistently terrible things about doing it in Hong Kong. I've accepted the fact I'm either flying to London or Los Angeles..

You can not change a single entry visa to a multi entry type but you can extend your stay for one year at a time if you meet the requirements.

in that case would it be better to try and have the mulitple issued at another embassy rather than the one in the "home" country, in this case Laos?

It is going to be a non imm b education visa and they are going to have to be in thailand for at least 9 months.......

thanks again :o

It is now a Lao national working in Thailand, as a teacher? After they obtain a work permit they might be able to obtain a multi entry visa from the Embassy in Laos but have not seen anyone in that situation report here so can not be sure.

If you mean to attend school they should have and ED visa and that would be extended with the help of the school.

they are not going to be working at all during their saty here. They will be doing an internship to go from a novice diver to an instructor rating. Timeframe of about 9 months.

Normally easy to get a non imm b educational visa for this type of program form the Thai embassies in the west, just need a supporting letter from the thai company.

appears to be slightly more difficult in this case as on one hand the information is that you shoudl always try and apply for the visa in your own country but then the informatino from the Laos emb/cons seems to be that they do not issue non imm b multiple entries and a single entry will be no good for the time frame involved.

Los Angeles is not considered friendly as well on giving any type of visa.

The best bet is to get a 90 day visa in K with the company docs.. Get the work permit then apply for the multiple visa in KL the second time round showing the work permit with all the company documentation.

Hmm, my last visa in LA wasn't too painful, but obviously given the choice Hong Kong is simpler. maybe I'll try both.. :o

they are not going to be working at all. They are simply doing the training course that will take them up to instructor level. Hence the reason it is normal to get a non b ed visa.

This is for a student not for the instructor thats training them..........

Would KL, Singapore etc to issue multi entry non b's to people that are applying for the first time if they not from there?

Sorry for the questions it just a simple visa that seems to be very difficult to get in this paticular set of circumstances.. :o

The odds are very high, the Hong Kong won't give a one year multi entry visa.

The Ambassador may of recently changed at the LA Embassy. We had one client get approved several weeks ago for a business visa and one other poster stated he had no problem getting a "o" visa there this week. LA may be getting more friendly now. That was not the case for the past several years.

Sorry but the odds are VERY high, no Embassy/Consulate in Asia is going to issue him a non Ed one year multi entry visa.

You have three choices.

Choice 1

Apply for the extension of stay based on education in Thailand( They get a 90 day visa in Laos.

Immigration Form 7 (Tor Mor 7)

Copy of passport

A 4 cm. X 6 cm. Photograph

1,900 baht application fee

A certified document from the governor of the province in which the Private Educational Institute is located or from the Government Department or equivalent that takes care of the institute, document must contain details about the applicant:

Name, Family name

Age

Nationality

Passport number

Total academic years - curriculum - funding

Education transcript of the applicant - length of further stay

School license (Sor Shor 2)

The Permit / certificate to be school manager (Sor Shor 5) or Principal (Sor Shor 8)

The officials reserve the rights to examine or ask for additional documents if necessary

2nd Choice

apply for the extension of stay based on work. ( I know you stated he is not working but if he is a intern. The Thai government has a category for this. I know as we have had a intern in our office for the last three years. They always get a work permit even if the salary is zero and a extension of stay as well( even though the salary is zero) If he is going to be a instructor once he finishes then a case could be made he’s working.

Third Choice.

He goes West to apply at a Thai Embassy/ Consulate to get a one year multi entry visa.
