New York legalises medical marijuana

NEW YORK: -- Governor Andrew Cuomo on Monday signed a bill making New York the 23rd US state to legalise medical marijuana, in a growing momentum.

The state's law requires a medical prescription for marijuana and limits its use to help treating patients with cancer, HIV, Lou Gehrig's disease, Parkinson's, epilepsy and a few other illnesses.

Patients must agree to sign up for the medical marijuana program. The number of distributing centres is small, and treatment cannot exceed 30 days.

"New York State has a proud history of being in the forefront of many advances in medicine," Cuomo said. "We are here to help people and if there's a medical advancement, we want to help bring it to New Yorkers."

Well NY , NYC is my hometown , your just so far behind not at fore-front at all !

But the lies and ridiculous laws against a drug that is so less harmful then alcohol and so much more

helpful & less harmful ,to the point of deadly dangerous , then Pharmaceutical meds .

But you have to start turning around somewhere , the ignorance & lack of studies into a product that may do allot more

for the good of people with illnesses , then it ever has keeping it as a illegal Class I narcotic of no medicinal uses.

What BS ! The Feds were going to lose many jobs at the end of Prohibition , so they invented Mary Jane

the Demon Weed ,that will turn your Children into criminals & junkies ! Yes , they even got hemp outlawed as well ;

so the PLASTIC makers could just pollute the earth with their waste. Hemp , you could smoke all you want but never get

so much as a buzz , but it's still tied in with the Killer Weed !

The only reason Cuomo is signing this bill is because he wants to be reelected. He still thinks its a gateway drug. Anyone that ignorant should not be making decisions for the state. I hope New Yorkers are smart enough to show him the door at the next election.
