Non Imm 'O' to be disbanded

Recommended Posts

I have been using the non imm 'O' for several years, getting it from the Brisbane Consul. However i have just been informed by an English ex-pat, that this visa is about to be done away with. He was quite adamant on this matter. Is this correct, or has he just misunderstood something he has read.

They have not and will not do away with the non-o visa.

If it is a multiple entry non-o based upon being 50 or over for retirement they are no longer being done in the UK unless you are 65 or over on a pension.

You may find that you will need to show the money if you have been getting yours based upon being 50 for over.

Yes, i am using 'over 50' multiple entry (15 mths) and am always to produce the necessary financial requirements. Just hope you are correct as this guy has given me reason to be apprehensive. I don't want the retirement visa, this one suits me well, i return to Brisbane every 15 mths., and i enjoy the border runs. I am hoping to do my next,at the end of august, had intended driving up to Khanchanaburi from Samui and on into Myanmar, but it seems that i will have to go to Bangkok to get a visa as they do not appear to be doing VOA's there yet, have'nt been able to get the correct info on this, maybe someone will know.

Thanks for putting me out of my misery Joe. wai.gif

They will not be doing away with all non-o's. They may set higher requirements to get some of them.

You need to get a visa in Bangkok for Myanmar to use the crossing in Khanchanaburi. now.

There are still other crossing that don't require it.

Would appreciate any info regarding these crossings. But i don't want to drive too far north. Thanks.

Ranong is where many people go to from Samui. The Andaman Club crossing has been mentioned as the best one there.

Or one of the crossings to Malaysia.

Yes Joe, have used that several times over the years, last run was to Club Andaman, but i want to drive into Myanmar. Both the crossings at Ranong are by boat only, and really just in and out. Done Sadao a couple of times also. Did a crossing about 4 yrs ago up at 3 Pagoda Pass, but that was just to have a look around a rather decrepid village, not a visa run. Thanks.
