Hitler is not studied or understood as much in many Asian cultures as in European ones. Most Asian countries had the Japanese to contend with, by the way. To a lot of unthinking people the Nazis were sexy, they had the great uniforms (thanks Hugo Boss) and could goosetep up a storm. This probably should go down as a horribly mistaken attempt at humour. BTW - Ricky Gervais tweeted after the German supporters got a bit of treatment something to the effect that - This is not the first time in history that Germans have chosen to hide in Brazil. Muslims are always conscous of the fact that the jews, with the help of muslim-hating westerners, stole Palestine from them, resulting in horrendous suffering for their fellows muslims which continues to this very day with Israel's bombing of gaza. Do they understand that if Hitler had won, they would have probably been next. Apparently, at least one of them doesn't. If the Axis side had won they would have been part of the Empire of Japan. When I moved to Hawaii (not in Asia or the west but having ties to Asia) for University, I had to take a make up history course "History or Asia" as I only had to take "Western Civilization" on the mainland USA. Himmler himself expressed great admiration for the fanatical Muslim fighting spirit and willingness to give their lives, which he believed could be an example to the Germans. He would not have done so if it had risked Hitler's ire. Also the Palestinian spiritual leader, the Mufti of Jerusalem was vociferous in his admiration for Nazism, and Fascism in general, and spent a long period in Europe during the war as an honoured guest of the Axis.
