I'm planning to travel to Savannakhet in the next few weeks to obtain a Single Entry Non-O on the grounds of having a (Thai) daughter (1yr) with my Thai girlfriend obviously noting we are not married. As I still have to get my status of being the legal father recognised through the courts I understand that the Single Non-O (hopefully) will be what I receive and then if all things go well then (hopefully) a Multi 'O' on getting the Legal Parent issue in the future sorted as I work rotationally out of the country and this would be the ideal visa.

My question is if anyone has been recently to Savannakhet in my position i.e. on grounds of visiting Thai child and what exact documents they needed. As I understand it the following is needed :-

- Passport / 2 x photos (copies as well)

- Original birth certificate (and a few copies)

- Girlfriends ID card (copy and signed) **** I also read in another topic that it would be advised for my GF to write on this copy that I am supporting the baby financially?

- House Book of which baby is registered in (Unsure of this one if needed or not? If so was original needed?)

- Appropriate money to pay for visa

- As I understand it, Savannakhet do not ask for proof of income / 400k in bank?

The advice from other members (especially UbonJoe) on separate topics regarding their experiences and advice travelling to here has been very valuable as this will be my first trip to Laos and I don't want to arrive without ensuring I have everything at hand.

Many Thanks in advance.

No financial proof will be needed.

Only 1 copy of each document is needed..

Only a copy of your passport photo page.

You will need a copy of your child's house book registry. Signed and dated by their mother. If mother is in same house book include her registry with the copies. Her ID card copy signed and dated.

You child's birth certificate plus a copy signed and dated.

If you need more time to get the legitimization done you can get a 60 day extension to visit you child at immigration. This will keep you non-o visa entry valid so you can get the one year extension from it.

You don't need any proof of income tor the 60 day extension. Your child and their mother will need to go with you when you apply.

The 60 day can also be done from type of entry. It does not have to be s non immigrant visa entry.

I am getting lost with all these visa matter. I also have a Thai child. I am officialy divorced with the mother and it stated on the divorce certificate from the Amphur that i have now the full parental right of our son. My son is in Thailand where he live in our house and with my girlfriend (we live together for 8 years). As for me, I am working abroad, in Myanmar actually since 2 years. Due to the proximity with Thailand, that's allow me to come back to Thailand on very regular basis, for the week ends only. During the first few months, i was making my regulars trips without visa, getting the 30 days entry stamps each time. No one has ever said anything at the airport immigration except one time when the officer mentioned to me "you should make a visa"but just as a comment. As I just renewed my passport, i went to the Thai consulate in Yangon, filled a visa application, attached a copy my 2nd one year multiple entry business visa for Myanmar, a copy of my working contract in Myanmar, a copy of the Thai birth certificate of my son, a copy of 3 months bank statement from 2 differents Thai bank accounts, with a balance over one million on each, showing my monthly income paid on one of them (aroumd 500,000/month) and an attach letter from myself explaining my situation and applying for one year visa multiple entry. They then asked me to come back the next day to pickup my passport with a Non imm O one year multiple entry for visit family and pay the 200 USD visa fees. This visa will now expired in coming November. As my situation remain unchanged and I am still working in Myanmar with the same condition, will I get the same visa if i provide the same evidence or should i need to extend this visa in immigration office in Thailand? As you might understand, fund is not an issue for me but is there any minimum requirement in my case? (I always see these number of 400k or 800k in a bank account or 40k monthly income...). Not sure if it is the right place to post it but i saw the title with non O for visiting Thai Child....Apologize if not appropriate

You should not have a problem getting another visa in Yangon.

You probably don't spend enough time here to get an extension of stay.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. Yes, extension might require enough time in Thailand, which i don't have. I am only going back for week ends and if i can get some holidays, i prefer to spend it at home or on the beach than in administration offices... is there any limitation on the number of entry with such visa? I am usually going back at least 2 times a month but it happened to go back every week ends for some periods...
