Have any of you had this done here. If so which hospital and how much did it cost? I am also wondering how it went. Were you able to work straight away or did you leave you bed ridden for a few days?

Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated.

If you are in a relationship its safe, easier and less expensive to the man to have a vasectomy. Mine in the US was around 30,000bht, I'm sure thailand would be much less. The equivalent procedure for a woman in the US is 2 to 5 times as much with a longer more painful healing process.

I just had a vasectomy 3 days ago at Ramathibodi Hospital's Premium Clinic (Somdech Phra Debaratana Medical Center)

This brand new medical center competes with some of the top private hospitals in BKK, except it's a little cheaper. Ramathibodi Hospital is traditionally a university hospital, sort of like Chula Hospital, except for Mahidol University instead. It has always had a good reputation. But the new premium clinic is something which Chula doesn't have. It's like a 5 star hotel inside. Really nice place. Everything is orderly. No chaos (although it is a busy place, but it's a huge building anyway)

I was very impressed with the urologist, despite his little English. He is very ethical (he actually turned me away at first due to my young age). I believe his name is Wisoot Kongchareonsombat, MD. From what research i did on him, i think he used to work at Phya Thai Hospital (top-notch private hospital). Phya Thai hospital was one of the places i called up to ask about the price of vasectomy. They quoted me around 25k (one of the most expensive quotes i got)

But it cost me just 12k at Somdech Phra Debaratana Medical Center

The operation by the way was a breeze. Didn't feel a thing, except the needle going in at first. It took about 30 mins. He gave me lots of aftercare advise and some medicine. I am back to normal already.

Highly recommend this place. I expect he can do female sterilization just as well (especially since it is more common for women to do this in Thailand than men)

correct me if I am wrong, but I believe people who go eat at the "Cabbage and Condoms" restaurant in Bangkok can get a free vasectomy from the shop next to it?

Thank you for your replies. Having him get a vasectomy is not an option. So I am looking for information on getting myself sterilised. I may ring up BNH and see what they say.
