Arrest warrants sought for suspects involving with M-79 firings

BANGKOK: -- Police are seeking arrest warrants for seven suspects believed to be linked with the firing of M-79 grenades into anti-government protests at the Chaeng Wattana and Ratchadamri areas, deputy national police chief General Somyot Poompanmoung said Monday.

He said police believed a group of around 10 people were involved in the wargrade weapon attacks earlier this year at Chaeng Wattana and its Big C Ratchadamri rally sites.

The attacks killed two people and wounded more than 20 people. Somyot said police had gathered enough evidence to arrest seven people in the gang.

They are Thaweechai Wichakam, 39, Sunthorn Pheepuannok, 49, Suksan Lomwong, 32, Somsri Marit 40, Chatchawal Prabbamrung, 45, Kannika Wongtua, 38 and Wichien Sukpirom, 33.

They charges they face include conspiring to commit premeditated murder, conspiring to cause explosions that killed and wounded others and illegally possessing explosives.

The seven are set to be hit with these additional charges: possessing guns and bullets without permission, carrying guns in public places without permission and valid reasons, and violating the Internal Security Act 2008 by carrying arms in public places.

Somyot said Narongsak Plaiaram, a suspect who on Sunday reenacted shooting an M79 grenade into Shinawatra Building 3, where PDRC protesters were rallying, had also confessed to firing the weapon at Sanambin Nam and the Saowanee intersection.

Narongsak is being interrogated and is in military custody.

Seven face arrest for alleged involvement in Big C Rajdamri grenade attack

7-14-2014-8-04-27-PM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court on Monday issued warrants for the arrest of seven people suspected to be involved in the M79grenade attack of Big C Rajdamri in February this year which killed two children.

The seven suspects were identified as Thaveechai Vichakham, Sathorn Phipuannok, Suksant Lomwong, Somsri Marith, Chachaval Prabbamrung, Mrs Kannikar Wongtua and Wichien Sukphirom.

The arrest warrants for the seven suspects was a follow-up investigation by the police after the arrest last week of Narongsak Plai-aram together with a haul of war weapons who was suspected of firing M79 grenades against People’s Democratic Reform Committee protesters at Sawankaloke road and at Shinawatra 3 building in March.

Police claimed that they now knew the masterminds who were responsible for supplying war weapons to the gang and for plotting the attacks against the anti-government protesters.

But their identifies are kept confidential as police are launching a manhunt against them.

There sure were a lot of child killers among the supporters of the Yingluck Thaksin government.

"carrying guns in public places without permission and valid reasons"

I hope that with this something got lost in translation blink.png

carrying guns in public places without permission and valid reasons, and violating the Internal Security Act 2008 by carrying arms in public places.

Will the same charges be laid at the door of the PDRC armed guards... if a certain group had done their duty and not conspired with Suthep (his words not mine) then there would have been no confrontation on this level

Totally agree, what about those others?

- popcorn shooter? Oh, charges acknowledged already.

- PDRC guard beating/shooting a army colonel? Oh, charges acknowledged already

- brutes stabbing a non-drunk driver? Oh, charges acknowledged already.

- PDRC leader and staff torturing and leaving for dead some red-shirt? Oh, charges acknowledged already.

- PCAD guards brutally accosting a German photojournalist? Oh, charged already ?

Well, that would leave all those who cowardly fired at anti-government protesters, in the night, or just dropped grenades on them, it would seem. About 30 odd attacks and according to the BP 100 or so grenades.

Asuming these unknowns (and probably colourless shirt) people can be found I guess the same charges will be laid on them?

BTW all could have been averted of course, if only those pesky anti-government protesters had listened to Ms. Yingluck who in her most motherly voice said to 'please go home, not all is done yet" after her MP's (including a good dozen red-shirt Pheu Thai MPs) had voted for the blanket amnesty bill absolving Thaksin's last two years in/out of office and her own Administration's first two years.

They charges they face include conspiring to commit premeditated murder, conspiring to cause explosions that killed and wounded others and illegally possessing explosives.

I wonder what it takes for a Thai national to be charged with terrorism?

But, but, but, but, but, but, but, Suthep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is why Surtheps peoiple were reduced to being armed. I know it doesn't excuse it in point of strict law but HOW EXACTLY do you find it in yourself to ask that question before asking yourself te more obvious questions? Why the police NOW can come up with names & warrents only when there is the army standing over them? In pre-coup months, the only time they arrested any red terrorists was on a joint army/police patrol in Nontaburi. Stop trying to defend the indefensible; the fact that the police were apparently instructed from on high (or afar) not to arrest the red terrorists and the governing party's militant wing WERE the terrorists.

It is obvious. A real (not fake) Thai national could never be a terrorist. But you a falang could not understand this, because you do not understand Thai-ness!

Thai-ness, Contradiction, opposed to logic, lack of accountability. The list is endless.

I suppose one good reason may be that the weapon is being taken to a gun shop for repair or is a new weapon just bought and being taken home.

There sure were a lot of child killers among the supporters of the Yingluck Thaksin government.

why do you say that? where is your proof?????????

Yea know not ALL red shirts are terrorists, there were and are some yellows also and some people from the south. So dont say it is just one group. OK????? Use common sense. Please?

There sure were a lot of child killers among the supporters of the Yingluck Thaksin government.

The Red Shirts killed people of all ages, but yes, the child victims of their crimes are particularly reprehensible acts of the Thaksin assault squads.

more to the point where do they procure this stuff

They charges they face include conspiring to commit premeditated murder, conspiring to cause explosions that killed and wounded others and illegally possessing explosives.

I wonder what it takes for a Thai national to be charged with terrorism?

What it takes? Well, amongst others you'd have to protest against the government of the beloved Ms. Yingluck and ignore her motherly pleas to go home.

Are there not some red leaders from 2010 who have terrorism charges still to answer ?

You know the ones who were made MP's and given cabinet posts.

no arrest warrants yet so they decide to tell everyone who they want, hope they are watching every border crossing now so these suspects dont run away. Police are up to their old tricks again, warning their mates, what else can we expect

... it's also close to impossible to hide when the names are out in the open. Thailand is good in that.

more to the point where do they procure this stuff

That could well be what they are working on now.

The answer may lie with those who have yet to be named.

There is also the point of where did the money come from to pay the gent who has admitted being paid to do the grenade firing ?

The answer to that one may also lie with the same as yet unnamed.

To be able to get to this point in the investigations so quickly, there is a good chance that information regarding these attacks was already known to some in the police ranks, possibly it had even been passed on to higher authority but was accidentally mislaid or even dismissed.

Now with new management it has come to light again.

Even if the visa crackdown means I am not allowed in Thailand, it is worth it to see the truth finally come to light...May all those who committed acts of terrorism and murder be brought to some kind of justice.
