Should I be worried about Tourist Visa Second Entry?

Featured Replies

I got to Thailand this year, did one border run before getting a double entry tourist visa in Laos. I'll leave the country Aug 9th, fly to Singapore, and fly back in on the 13th. I was hoping at that point to use my second entry on the tourist visa. I bought plane tickets for two, my girlfriend (also here on a tourist visa) and myself.

After reading about the August 12 rule I'm getting a little nervous. I wasn't planning on bringing all my stuff with me to Singapore, so if I can't reenter Thailand I'll have an angry landlord and an condo full of stuff I can't get to.

What exactly the rules will be on Aug. 12th is still unclear.

It will help if you can show a ticket out of Thailand on your retun on the 13th, especially if it is to your home country. Proof of income from outside Thailand might also help, as it shows you are not working.

But it is unclear how many times you can enter Thailand before it will be considered In-Out.

Hmmm...

I was really hoping to be able to stay until Feb. We got a nice condo in Bangkok and planned on flying out to see Hong Kong, Japan, Cambodia, Malaysia, etc. Nice to have a place in Thailand to return to.

Here's my current situation: I'm under 30, have about 50k USD in the US stock market (I keep almost nothing in the bank) and make about north of $2,000 USD a month from some websites I own. I also make a few thousand a month off of consulting for a large client in the USA, but that's hourly work and I don't know if that's legal, as I'm doing it from my condo in Thailand and not paying the Thai Government any taxes.

Would you think that printing out some papers showing my monthly income / stock market account would be enough? I take it there's nothing I can do in the mean time to get prior approval...

Or do you think it'd just be best to buy new tickets and try to fly back before the 12th?

Spending a few days out of the country will help when you enter the country.

It seems according to the latest news they will mostly be looking at same day departures and entries.
