The other day i returned to Thailand after have been in a closeby country for a couple of days. At emigration, the officer keep looking at my stamps in passport and asked me a few questions like, what i do (i answered i work in BKK) just going here for a few days of holiday.

Anyway. After about 5 minutes, he start calling other officers, and more came.. at some point i think there was 5+ officers, looking at my passport, looking at the computer, talking to each other in Thai.

I tried to ask what the problem was, but didnt get any answer. After some 10-15 minutes, i was the only one left at the emigration counters.

Finally after some 20 minutes or so, he stampled my passport and departure card and said "no problem", "sorry for take long time.." and i asked what the problem was, any issues with my papers? and i could not get a answer other than "no problem" ....

in passport i have (listed in the order i got it)

some old visa exempts

1 dual entry tourist visa from Vientienna expired

1 Visa B from KL 30 days expired

1 30 days rentry which is expired

1 2 year reentry which expire 2015

I really dont understand why they where so interested in other/old stamps when i actually have a valid re-entry permit (and WP)

So since i have a re-entry permit, valid until sometimes 2015, what could possibly be the problem?

Anyone thoughts?

Thanks for any thoughts on this, it made me quite nervous, since i do travel quite a lot from time to time.

They probably don't get many people with a re-entry permit valid for 2 years in Phuket.. They are more accustomed to 1 year at the most. You must be working for a BOI company.

i wasnt aware that 2y was uncommon, so that might very well be the reason.

And on top of that, arriving just a few days after the first year of the re-entry permit and from a country which is properly used by some visa runners.

That could explain they paid a lot of attention to the computer files as well.. maybe they where thinking that the 2y stamp was a mistake and wanted to check if someone stamped me 2y by mistake.

Cheers
