July 16, 201411 yr Hello, I have an AIS post-paid 3G account. Will be travelling to Europe and want to get pay as you go SIM there - can I? If not, how can I go about unlocking the phone? If I choose not to remove the SIM, can I simply put it in Airplane mode and use wifi without getting charged while abroad? Thanks.
July 16, 201411 yr You should have no problem. You can use WiFi anywhere. >Settings>Be sure Data Roaming is disabled.
July 16, 201411 yr If you bought the phone from AIS it will be factory unlocked. You can use any SIM.
July 16, 201411 yr Author MKAsok - I did get it from AIS and just assumed it would be locked to prevent users from doing what I plan to do when travelling. Any idea why? Thanks!
July 16, 201411 yr I believe it's illegal in Thailand for networks to lock phones to their own service. In any event, none of the Thai networks lock their phones.
