Sorry I know this will have be covered. I have read a lot to avoid asking same old questions. So here's the thing. I have been living here 2 years with various visas and stamp oa. With the new rules its time to obtain a retirement visa.

I fly to AU for 3 weeks in sept. Is it best for me to try and apply for the long stay non imm based on retirement in AU Thai consulate or just get the 90 day non imm come back to thai and convert it here.

I am also confused about police check and medical certificate. Some members say you don't need them but embassy web sites day otherwise. My slight problem is while I have Thai bank account it only has 440k baht. Need to get the remainder out of my bank while in AU. Thank you for any help

If you apply for a OA visa at the embassy or the consulate in Sydney you will need the police check and medical certificate. And you will show the money in a bank in Australia.

To apply for an extension of stay (it is not a visa) here at immigration you do not need the police check or medial.

You can only get the single entry non-o visa at one of the honorary consulates in Brisbane, Melbourne.or Perth.

If you cannot get the non-o visa you should get a single entry tourist visa that you can change to a non immigrant visa entry at immigration.

You need the 800K baht to be in the bank for 60 days when you apply for the extension here.

Thanks for the reply. However I have a "non-immigrant O visa" in my old passport. I obtained it at Melbourne Thai consulate. I paid $180 for the 2 entry visa. Point is I provided no police check or medical certificate. Visa was issued 2013. ??

Thanks. I will have a crack at just obtaining the normal non O visa then get the long term OA in bkk.

I guess i was just hoping to get it done in melbourne.
