Thai editorial: We need to start loving one another again

Featured Replies

Millions of Germans loved Hitler, millions of Italians loved Mussolini. And look where that got us. Love is a much-overused and misused word which we would do well to reserve for those who deserve it. Our families and friends, say. But the exhortation to love our neighbour, let alone every other member of our particular nation, is just plain silly.

What we all need to show is a little more tolerance and respect for each other's right to hold views different to our own, be they about the political parties which run our lives or the players selected for our favourite football team. Then we might, just might, have a more peaceful and caring global society.

Have a feeling the way the article is supposed to be interpreted and how the members posting in this thread wants it to be interpreted, is a little bit different.

Something meant to be very positive is ridiculed by the foreigners, who claims to like the country they visit.

Almost like a lynch mob waiting for any reason to bash.

One member even start writing about Hitler and Mussolini.

One member just refer to his hooker friends, and lay down on the floor laughing at his own joke.

One member basically say everyone hate each other in this country.

It goes on and on.

Sure, we all can be a bit sarcastic, ironic and silly, and God knows I'm one of them, but the viciousness among some of You is unprecedented.

One can only wonder how the Junta reacts when, rather sooner than later, they start looking into what people actually write about here on this site.

The article was stupid, childish at best so a backlash can be expected.

Divide and rule - the mantra of most political parties throughout the world.

Best of luck trying to eliminate it. You'll need it as it is the most successful way to power.

It is not about love, it is about rule of law. Stop allowing badly behaved politicians, monks, business "leaders" to get away with it and that would be a good start. Let all the poor buggers out of jail for a handful of yaba pills, and start filling up those empty cells with politicians, religious and business leaders.

Wow! Love is better than hate! What a new idea!

5648237th article on the same topic with same words.

I told the uni student girl in next door apartment, let make love not war.

She slam the door on me.

What a pile of steaming shit. Not even the average Thai visa reader would believe that.

Come on, angsta - Tell us how you really feel!
