You can use the Hasselblad V lenses on the Pentax 645z. I thought of this even before Ming Thein. But I have no money.

This has made me realize I haven't been in the situation where I couldn't just have what I want when I want or go where I want when I want . . . for quite some time.

Being a member of the Hassie Owners Club I receive

all their spam and last week I was sent a lovely bit of

info regarding their new digital back for the old war

horses. I no longer have any Hassie gear as of last

year and all I have to say to FG is...you lucky human!

All I have to say to Hassie is...well it's not allowed to

be put here. However...the word begins with a "B".

You can rent a 503CW frpm calumet for £24.34 for the weekend

The lenses range from £26-41.

3 days worth.

If I could rent the Pentax 645z I'd know instantly how to use it, because it's a medium format K-3. But I'd spend three weeks trying to figure out the Hasselblad.

Surprisingly cheap though.

I don't have a price for that you could hire a Phase one from between £310-448 depending on Hasselblad or Mamiya fit.

Similar price for a Mamiya leaf....not sure what either of them cameras are capable of but I have seen some good photos from an old TLR Mamiya C220, I wouldn't know what to do with one though, twist a knob and off you go?

Just in the spirit of fun, I'd pay to see you guys on your first encounter with a Hasselblad V. It's such a simple camera. Or is it? A light tight box with a waist level viewfinder, lens at one end and film at the other. What could be easier?

Well, devoid of the user manual I'd defy anyone to load the film. Assuming you overcame that hurdle the film back and lens need to be attached BUT, forget to cock both items and the camera jams. Try and unjam it without the proper tools.

The shutter and aperture setting are on the lens, only the wind on lever is on the body. The older lenses are invariably EV based. Work that one out?

Focus and ready to shoot. Hang on everything is laterally reversed in the viewfinder and you get totally disorientated.

Hit the shutter and nothing happens. You forgot to remove the dark slide !

Change lenses and the camera jams because you forgot to cock it first.

Change the film back and fog the film because you forgot to insert the dark slide first.

Etc etc.

You gotta love the simplicity!
