Hopefully the Sun shines on the Event.

For those unlucky not to be part of that Union, think Olympic Games on a smaller scale same but different.

Here is a place to discuss the various sporting Events, whos the favourites etc.

Ill try and dig out a few of the Stadiums built for the Games below.

For those awake in these wee hours ... the opening Ceremony starts NOW.

Cheers!

Just switched it on.

Come on England.

Go for it Rod (going well at 69).

I'm hoping to get to the Sevens Finals on Sunday afternoon.

Sadly, I don't think the Aussies will feature, nor Scotland ... but he can hope.

The Medal Count is here.

Eanglands leads, Australia second and Scotland third.

I'm enjoying the road racing now - Keenaugh from the Isle of Man forty-odd seconds out in front after 2 out of 12 laps, Glasgow looking lovely in the showers, but a bit slippery on the cobbled sections

"Glasgow Green looking splendid in the sunshine"

Keenaugh completes his third lap - 42.1 km in 1: 02:28, and the gap has opened up to 1:20

Kennaugh stretched his lead to almost two minutes, but ultimately was caught with 50 km to go.

Three riders established a commanding brekaway, and Geraint Thomas broke in the last lap to establish a 35 second lead, which kept on growing.  Nothing could stop him - except a puncture! A dreadful slow wheel change but he was still able to take off ahead of Baur and Thwaite.

Kennaugh comes in in eighth after his heroics in the first 120 km
