PATTANI: -- A car bomb killed two people and wounded eight others in front of a cockfighting ring in Pattani's Khok Pho district at 4.30pm yesterday.

The explosion erupted shortly after cockfighting matches ended. The deceased were identified as Prisana Kwanphetch and Pinom Saesim.

The eight injured persons were Yaowadi Kwanphetch, Boonkeua Boonreung, Attha Pathumsilpa, Sitthichai Phetchsuriya, Ong-art Kaewthongprakham, Manas Phetchyod, Sakol Suwanneuk and Prasut Boonreung.

The wounded victims were taken to Khok Pho Hospital while security officers sealed off the scene at Ban Huai Pia of tambon Na Pradu for police to investigate.

The ongoing investigation suggests that the car used for this bomb attack was stolen from its original owner on May 28 this year.

In Panare district, bomb-disposal officers successfully defused a device in the afternoon that had been planted in a milk truck.

Police found that the truck had been stolen from another subdistrict on the same day and its driver and two workers were tied up and left in Sai Buri district.

And this after the rulers said that the attacks are dropping earlier this week, think they are losing the battle in the south, a complete different approach is needed.

Absolutely. The bombings and deaths have increased to now daily events. It's a war-zone down there!

I could not imagine living there, the tension and not knowing must be terrifying...

Heart goes out to them, brave people....
