Tourist Visa Extension at Chaengwattana - No hassles

Featured Replies

I arrived at Chaeng Wattana at 11:40 this morning.

Went downstairs and paid 6 baht for them to copy the required passport pages, you just hand them the passport and they know exactly what is required, in the same place paid 100 baht for photos, which they print off in about 1 minute.

Went upstairs and asked for the form.

Filled it out then proceeded to the desk where they check the form and give you a number.

Had a 15 minute wait then submitted my application.

The woman who took it was very nice, I hadn't written the district for my address so she asked if it was Phra Kanong or Bang Na, told her Bang Na and apologised in Thai for not writing that.

Paid her the 1900 THB and she told to me to wait for my number to be called.

10 minutes later I was called again, this time to collect my passport with the 30 day extension in.

No awkward questions about what I've been doing here, nothing about the 6 months of back to back visa exemption stamps this year, or the Non B, no questions about my finances or flight plans out of Thailand.

I did volunteer the information that I've signed up for Thai lessons and need the tourist visa extension while I wait for the MOE to give me approval for an ED visa. Both Thai women I dealt with seemed happy that I was going to be learning Thai.

It was a University student (presumably on work experience) who I collected my passport from, not only was she very pleasant to look at, she was very chatty about my Thai ability and remarked that she thought it was great I was getting an Ed visa to learn more :-)

Everything was efficient, friendly and quick. Total time spent in Immigration just over 30 minutes!

Thank you to Thai Immigration.
