Axis Capital (Capitol - typo error).

This company is actually based in Jakarta, but as they had contacted me in Malaysia its very possible that they will have contacted prospective investors in Thailand.

The contact came through a phone call from them informing me of company profile and that a senior manager at my company had recommended me as a prospective investor. I received some introduction pack through the post, but I left it at that not really being interested.

Two weeks ago I received a phone call from a guy with an Aus accent informing me he was from this company and gave a 5 minute speech. He was quite pushy and reluctant in starting any correspondence via e-mail.

For a random phone call he was talking sums of 40K Euros to invest.

I told him no thanks.

I also asked the senior manager at my company about the company, he had no recollection of the name and stated he wouldn't make a recommendation to any investment company with regards to company employees.

Just interested if any members have had any experience with Axis Capital in Jakarta.

No experience with them, but sounds like they are employing classic boiler room tactics. Their website looks mighty suspicious too with parts of it lifted from other sites verbatim. There's no mention who's behind the firm or whether its regulated in Indonesia.

If you have any doubt regarding the company's legitimacy, why not contact the Indonesian regulator directly and ask if this firm is authorized to act as a broker or give investment advice? Here's a link to the website of the Indonesia Financial Services Authority:

They are still active, they called me in November and sent me a fancy brochure to my office in December.

A guy with a British accent called me Thursday, wouldn't stop talking about an inside information deal with a company that was supposed to announce a deal with Microsoft to setup could computing for them.

Similar BS story as I got last year form a company called Westhill, also from Jakarta.

I think that the member lists of foreign chambers are the source of this kind of boiler rooms, or it is people collecting namecards at the events of foreign chambers. I would have no other explanation of how they get the details they have.
