SantiSuk
Rainy season is upon us, so next Saturday's August hash 'run' will mostly stay away from low lying areas/jungle and will remain close to beer (& softies) stop opportunities!Location Ban Tha Bo - just north of Ubon Ring Road between the Yasothon and Amnat roads. The run/walk will start at 4:30 pm and for those who do not wish to go to the run site directly there will be a pick-up from N-Joy Bar, leaving promptly at 4:15pm. After the run - circle and socialising as normal.Directions to run site: travel North from Central Plaza on the Ring Road towards the Yasothon/Ring Road junction. Just after Central Plaza and Home Pro the Ring Road crosses the diversion section of the River Mun. 150 metres after that bridge turn left by a mechanical/agricutural equipment shop (Kobelco mechanical diggers are usually outside) onto Thanon Bo. Travel along Tha. Bo's concrete road for 400 metres then go straight on along tarmac (ie not following Tha Bo's concrete road, which turns right at that point). Park up after travelling 450 meters along the tarmac road at the far end of Wat Ban Tha Bo's temple wall. N-Joy bar is at the western end of Palochai Road beyond the Tohsang City Hotel and Ubon Prison. See the attached Word document for maps directing you to the run start and to N-Joy Bar On ONSteve aka "Flash Git"[PM me if you have any questions]Location of Wat Ban Tha Bo Run 2Aug14.doc Hashing is social 'running' and there have been hash clubs all over the world since its 1930s origins in Kuala Lumpur. The running bit is not taken too seriously and beer is drunk to oil the social side. Ubon Hash, in line with the Ubon environment is laid back and only a few enthusiasts put in a few spurts of running. The rest walk. A trail is laid, typically in white flour/chalk and the pack must find the trail, which keeps the front runners busy while the walkers catch up. After the run the beer ice-boxes are opened and the socialising begins. We usually go back for some more beer and maybe some food around town in the early evening, and some more beer later in the evening, but that is entirely optional on your part! Although hashing has been described as a 'beer drinking club with a running problem' you will find that we are not drunken lunatics and quite sociable really!Don't be a stay at home wuss - get out there with us and discover the sides of Ubon you would not normally uncover. It's dead cheap (100B) for your first outing and inexpensive (250B) thereafter; even cheaper for Thais and cheaper again for under 17s - and the fee includes several free beers afterwards, often a beer stop during the run and occasionally even some snacks. MisterSandMan1
Hi there - I'm a total newbie to this whole 'Hashing' business! But keen to meet some local farang and chat over a few cold ones! I'm guessing, from what I've read, that it's totally ok to bring the kid and mrs along ?

If you do Martin, could you round up to my Mrs as well, Dream is no longer a "hash" virgin. They have been on four already. Steve is too small, only fit for the last 200 metres, he'll have to stay at home Hope to see you mid August Chris

Sorry to hear that you haven't had one for so long. Will send an uncut version to you, free of charge. Won't tell your wife about it. And I guess you know that TVF members can really keep a secret.
