Electricity Voltage for Hair Iron

Featured Replies

Hi - I have a Flat Iron (Hair Straightening Iron) that is dual voltage 110/220V. I use it in the US and UK when I travel there.

Will it work in Thailand? From a quick search on the Net, it looks like the voltage is same in Thailand as UK.

Also, for US iPhone and iPad - I'm assuming I will need an adaptor? Any suggestions on what kind?

Thanks!

Yes it will work, it's the same as the UK.

The best thing to do for recharging various low power devices is to bring an extension cable with 4 sockets on it, then just purchase one single adapter.

Check out this page for 'plug information', it has pictures : http://whatplug.info/from/uk/to/thailand

I'm pretty sure the iPhone and iPad plugs are dual voltage.  So you should have no problems.  But best to check.  It will be written on the plug.

Plugs in Thailand are the same size/shape as in the US.    You will not need any adapters.    All items that have a rechargeable battery will self-regulate the voltage and will not need any type of converter.   i.e. notebook, phone, tablets can be plugged directly into the socket without any problems.    For anything else (hair dryer, iron, etc) make sure it is rated for 220v/240v.

Thanks everyone! I checked my iPad & iPhone plug and you guys are right, it is dual.

And thanks ukrules for the link, very helpful.

Regarding the Flat Iron, be sure there is not a little switch you need to manually switch in order to select the proper voltage....that's the way my wife's  dual voltage flat-iron is.   But for phone adapters it's highly, highly probably it uses a dual voltage/50 or 60hz adapter...works just fine from around 90 to 250V on 50 or 60Hz without any manual switching required.

Using UK/EU stuff in Thailand is OK. Just DO NOT plug in any USA appliances as they are 110v.......................your hair will go very straight!
