Two arrested for printing fake Bt1,000 notes after big spending spree
The Sunday Nation

Bangkok police have arrested a man and a woman for using fake banknotes - for which he hired a printing house - to buy cellphones from online shops.

After their arrest at a Nonthaburi condominium earlier, Pakhawat Siriratlekha, 27, and his alleged accomplice, Jitra Ratchakhom, 19, were presented at a press conference yesterday along with the Bt700,000 in fake banknotes, two i-Pad mini devices and three cellphones.

The duo reportedly confessed to hiring the printing house in the Phra Khanong area to print 1,000 Bt1,000 notes worth Bt1 million in total, for which the printer charged them Bt4,500, said Metropolitan Police Division 2 commander Maj-General Suranit Phrombutr.

The duo had spent Bt300,000 of the money when they were arrested, he added.

The printing-shop owner reportedly told police that Pakhawat had told him the

banknotes would be used as wallpaper.

Pakhawat was also wanted for allegedly duping people to buy cheap i-Phones and Carbon Kevlar autoparts.

Reminds me of the scrap yard owner whose workers managed to detonate a bomb with a cutting torch.

When offered the item for sale he was suspicious but bought it anyway.

The printing-shop owner reportedly told police that Pakhawat had told him the banknotes would be used as wallpaper.

So the banknotes were one sided then?  And came in long rolls?

It is illegal to copy and print any form of bank note in any way, even if one sided, unless it has the word SPECIMEN in large letters across the note (generally for educational purposes). The printing house owner MUST have known this!

In addition, did the printing house owner import special silver paint to complete the rental job as requested, for only 4,500 Baht? I suspect a few fall guys here.

The print house owner is more of an idiot than already appears, if he was not directly involved.

Printing House business in Thailand.

Does not mean that Somchai has any experience or knowledge of the trade. It only means one thing.

At some point in the past Somchai had enough money to buy a printer and make a sign.

this is a classic example of how a sweet and innocent thai mind works, blood amazing

Lives in a glass house, I guess.

Maybe Thailand has no law against printing counterfeit notes; only using counterfeit notes to buy things.  Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Plus the print shop was told the notes were to be used for wallpaper...a perfectly good reason to print your own notes.  In fact, I think I will turn on my inkjet printer today and copy/print some new notes to replace some paper I have on a glass entrance door because I want the customer to see the notes when entering and exiting.

Like home decorators, you mean ?

Can any of the good TVF members, recommend to me a good print shop?

Just want to print, some wallpaper of a certain design.

Payment will be given in rolls, after the job is finished.

The Bib can also decorate their houses, if any of the wallpaper is left.

It doesn't usually take the authorities long to catch counterfeiters.

The question now is; how many of the fake notes are still in circulation?

Well we know they spent 300,000 baht on luxury items,  Hope the shops have got rid of that quickly, but sooner or later there will be a loser be it another shop or a customer. Hope fully a bank will have taken them in or a gold shop exchanged notes for gold.whistling.gif

I am calling BS on this one ..... "The printing-shop owner reportedly told police that Pakhawat had told him the banknotes would be used as wallpaper."

There's a bit of a difference, neither the scrapyard owner or his employees were doing anything illegal, the printer was, so why does one remind you of the other?

You couldn't make this stuff up, 555!

But I do admit to being jealous; 1 million baht return for an initial 4,500 baht investment smile.png

Most countries have severe penalties for counterfiet money.. these guys can probably expect to be punished harshly.

It does not say that the print shop guy was actually arrested.. does that mean he was somehow involved with them being caught ?
