Hello all. I would like to ask for some advice from those that are a little more visa savvy than myself.

I am currently on a NON B. I have until Sept 10 on this visa. I am going to do the Thai culture course next month (who knows if I will need it again) BUT....heres the thing; I have given my current employer a letter of resignation, and I will be leaving at the end of this term. I have another employer that I work with on Saturdays that can get me a work permit and give me more work. I am wanting to concentrate on studying and have more time for it. Basically I have a plan that I think should work out for me......

I am married to a Thai national. I have had a NON O visa before. I have the funds (400,000 in a Thai bank in my name) I want to switch from the NON B to the NON O. After I have switched I will then undertake whatever steps are necessary to get legal with my new employer. The NON O buys me time as it is NOT tied to an employer, though I can work on it. One thing I am confused about is.....will I have to leave the country to switch the visa? Can this been done in Thailand?

I am thinking that the transfer of work permit from one employer to another, and therefore basing my visa on it could be a headache. Using the NON O route may be less of a headache. I may or may not stay on an O visa in the future....

Does this plan sound feasible....or am I missing something?

You can apply for an extension of stay based upon marriage with a non-b visa entry. Or do you now have an extension of stay based working or teaching.

If you are on an extension of stay you can change the reason for it to marriage if you have had the money in the bank for 60 days.

You can get a work permit and work with an extension of stay based marriage.

I currently have a NON B with a work permit based on my current employer. I was on a NON O (multiple entry) end changed to NON B last year.

I believe the point being made is that you could get (or switch to) an extension of stay based on marriage by applying at your Immigrations office. Your stay in Thailand would then be based on the extension of stay. If you have stayed in the country for any length of time rather than running across a border from time to time, you most likely already have an extension of stay regardless of which visa you used to enter the country. On an extension based on marriage you would still be eligible for a work permit.

Have you been doing 90 day reports? That would imply you have an extension.
