As an aussie who will soon be retiring in Thailand, I believe the surrogate ahead of the natural parents. Their version of events changes consistently, whereas the surrogate mum has been consistent with her version of events in all the interviews we have seen here in Australia. Additionally it came to light today in Australia that the father is a convicted paedophile. Additionally to only take one baby from Thailand, the aussie parents would have had to have lied to the embassy on all the paperwork they would have had to complete. Senior Member, you are wrong to label the surrogate as only being in it for the fame and money, and you should post a public apology to the surrogate mum. Think about this seriously, what reason does she have to lie? Also keep in mind that the aussie parents have also failed to pay her her full surrogate fee. She is still owed AUD$2000.00 (approx. THB60,000.00). Also the agency involved has shut up shop and disappeared into thin air. Why? Because they know that the surrogate mum is telling the truth.

What a crock of BS. Then you wonder who is telling the truth. That statements in the article don't add up. They made references to not being able of move freely in Thailand because of the military takeover and then the statement that they felt compelled to leave due to military unrest. Wonderful excuse to elicit sympathy from the Western press and to misinform people who don't live here.

Some lessons learn here should include a simple statement converted to legalese:
Parents who hire surrogates: I you make it, you take it.

Also the Thai government should review and regulate this much closer.

He did marry his wife in china the brought her out to Australia on a family visa. They met on the net.

Or she is telling the truth and was left with a un-well child with no proper means of caring for him.

If the Austalian couple were told Gammy only had a day to live, so they could not take him too.......how did they manage to stick around Bangkok for 60+ more days and left when he was still alive?

In actual fact if they cared at all about the young lad, they would know 100% of what his chances of life were by being with him at various doctors / specialists to see what could be done. The fact they didn't seem to investigate his chances of survival.....seems to me that they disappeared and only now feeling the heat, because the media found out who they are.

I don't think for one minute the young Thai knew how much media attention and money would be available if she went to the press. But luckily for her fortunes changed and now she has a couple of million baht in support already.

Another Aussie news source has said that a former surrogate agency worker has stated that the couple definitely knew of the condition of the wee lad as the 2 babies were in the same hospital and same room for 4 weeks after birth.

They also said that they knew before birth as aborting Gammy was discussed but the Thai lady said no...she will take care of the boy.

And switching hospitals voided the surrogacy contract? And asking for an abortion of one twin is very dangerous and one must wonder which Thai hospital would do such a procedure? Apparently "hard to tell" means different things to different people, but I'm guessing that no matter what the facts may be you were all ready to assume the Thai was guilty of something and the pale skinned people were innocent victims of the nefarious Thai women who travelled to Australia and forced them into this arrangement.
