Holiday on Monday 11th?

Recommended Posts

I don't know what you mean by a 'regular holiday'?!    It's an extra days holiday to make a 4 day week-end to 'bring happiness to the people'!!   Enjoy!!

Employees always say it is a holiday, but sometimes it turns out, its not really an official holiday, and when I look in my calendar, it looks like it is not an official holiday.

Checked several Thai Embassy sites (UK/AUS/NZ) and they only show the 12th for closure.  The Chiang Mai immigration online queue calendar shows the 11th open also and the 12th closed.  So would appear immigration and embassies/consulates will be open on the 11th.  Schools will be closed, at least the one I'm with is.

It's a holiday for government workers - not a general public holiday, though some businesses may give their staff an extra day off.

Apart from government offices/universities/museums &c. everything will be open as normal.

Staff in my company were informed by our landlord that they are locking our entire office building on both Monday and Tuesday and we will not be permitted to use the premises, just like on an official public holiday. How can they do this if Monday is only a holiday for government employees?

Thanks for the link. It's officially official! Nice all those working people like taxi drivers, food vendors, nurses etc. can all just take the day off. Everyone stock up now since 7/11 etc. will be closed. Because the government cares so much about all working people, right?
