I had a surgery at Chiang Mai Ram.

When leaving the room my favourite nurse informed me that my "old" discount card with 10% is now replaced with the new VIP Card 20%.

So I run (if you can say so after surgery two days ago; at least not in the wheel chair) to get my new VIP Card 20%.

Instead of the full amount of B96'000 I only had to pay B81'000. There are some exclusions, e.g. doctor fee, teeth, package etc.

That was a good spending of B100. The card is valid for 2 years.

Disclaimer: I am not the owner of Chiangmai Ram, nor my wife, nor people I know and I don't hold shares, nor my wife, nor people I know.

P.S. I am only happy that I saved approx. B15'000 with this card.

That's funny. I was in there about 2 weeks ago for 24 hours. I saw the ad for the 10% discount card and asked if I could buy it. They told me I could buy it but I could not use it on that visit. I asked why and they said because they automatically discount 10% on everyone who has insurance. Sure enough my bill was already discounted the 10% when I went to pay the balance that my insurance did not cover.

But I agree, prices there are way over the top. Most of the doctors can be seen elsewhere for a lot less. I only went because my doctor was fully booked elsewhere for weeks and I couldn't wait.

My 4500 thb dental bill at Ram would have been about half that at a number of very good dentist in CM.  In fact the doctor's fees and x-ray were almost exactly 50% of the bill....but then the hospital fees.....sheesh.  I was very pleased with her work, but....I think there was a time when an had a near monopoly on providing western quality care in CM.  Now, there are several other choices.  Same goes for Grace Dental, they were first at being good, but now there are many other sensible choices.  I don't think anyone would claim Ram is in the same league as Bumrungrad, and I think they have gotten very profit driven, also.

perhaps on the highside, particular  the pharmacy costs where u get your discount

but from  doctors services etc etc , worth the extra  cost , your above comment confirms that

and the preminium service starts with the parking security personel through to the top

No, I don't agree that it's worth the extra cost. My comment does not confirm that.

I don't get this way over the top prices eg I had an ear problem recently.Doctors fee was 300 baht the the procedure cleaning etc 300 baht, inc nurses fee Total 660 baht.

At the same time my wife was with the gastro specialist having a check up and review following a stay in RAM. Doctors fee was 350 baht inc nursing fee Total 410 baht.

Please let us know where we can get cheaper medical care than that .

Wow, at first read I thought you were seriously asking about where you could get medical care for less than US $20 or GBP 14.  Fortunately, I re-read your response and comprehend it as an ironic rhetorical question.  If there were an answer, it would probably be "Botswana".
