Extension of stay based on Marriage

Featured Replies

Hi all
For all the guys that use Pattaya/Jomtien Immigration,
I am about to renew my annual extesion of stay based on marrage. If anyone has recently done this in Jomtien, can you advise if i need a recently issued Tor Ror 2 to prove I still am, or will the original one be acceptable?

When my wife and I went to Jomtien immigration last year, we were told that this year we would not need another Kor Ror 2, we could use the one we got last year. However, having been involved with Thai immigration for 10 years now, experience told me to just ignore that and my wife went and got another one anyway a couple of weeks ago. My wife went on her own to get it - it was no big deal. I went to immigration in Jomtien on Wednesday and as the officer we saw last year was there, she MAY have remembered she told us we did not need another Kor Ror 2 this year. Mind you there was also the likelihood that she would not have been there and someone was taking her place - and would not accept the old Kor Ror 2.

After 10 years of renewals of the extension based on marriage, I have learnt to take every document I can carry down there and even then they may ask for something extra. So if I were you, I would just go and get a new one - better safe than sorry!

Many Thanks DsfBrit....sound advice.
I've always used the original, no problems with the last five extensions.

A lot depends on which Immigration office you use.

Some will, some won't.

Some do, some don't.

Some even ask for things that have never been asked for before.

If I was you I’d go and get a new one from your local amphur

It costs about 20 Baht.

Dfsbrit gave you good advice, take every document you can carry.

Have a Nice day.
