Still Confused ED Visa

Featured Replies

I have had an ED visa since 2011 and paid for a new one every year, paid the standard 1,900baht extension every 90 days and go to classes. However I have only had to leave the country when I got my first one, so I have not left in a little over 3 years now. I have read the information from the interview with the commissioner yet I am still confused. I understand we have to leave every year now to obtain a new one but I recently renewed mine a month or so ago. However in my passport there are just 90 day stamps for the past 3 years. I asked my school and they said I don't need to leave until next year, but they haven't seen my passport so I am still perplexed. Is it possible I will have to leave before this 90 days runs out even though I have paid for a new ED visa recently? Will immigration know I have renewed my visa before the deadline of August 29th even though I just have 90 day stamps? Thanks in advance

Having to leaving before 90 days is out of question, any existing extension remains valid.

Then if Immigration will allow one year in country counting from initial entry date, most recent extension before 29/8, from 29/8, or from next extension after 29/8, that has to be seen.

I hope common sense will prevail and the most favourable interpretation will be adopted.

It is still to determined how immigration is going to be apply the new rules for those that are already on extensions.

You did not just pay for a new ED visa you paid for another year of study. You have to go to an embassy or consulate to get a visa.

You might have to go out for a new ED visa before getting your next extension...
