August 10, 201411 yr Very recently I read a statement here on TV that said " The immigration department anounced that they will be starting an investigation of work permits in 9 of 13 school districts soon". I asked for clarification and received none. I also asked for a list of the 9 districts. Again no reply. I recalled yesterday that in the past I have asked the immigration department questions pertaining to work permits and their only reply was that they had nothing to do with work permits and I should be asking the Labor department. Why would the immigration department be investigating work permits? I am confused and don't know if such a statement can even be true? Any ideas on this? Please keep all judgements, spelling, grammatical and punctuation corrections to yourself! Thanks to serious replies in advance.
August 10, 201411 yr if u were working without a permit it would be a violation of your permission to stay
August 10, 201411 yr If it is immigration doing the checks, they will be looking at your visa or permission to stay (as AYJAYDEE stated above) against the validity of the work permit. I would assume.................. If someone were to be teaching on visa exempt or tourist or retirement visa, or no visa (overstay), they might find themselves in a bit of bother. August 10, 201411 yr I hope you don't teach mathematics - a valid statement can be either true or false Seriously, I heard from someone in immigration that this is in fact a true statement. Sorry, I don't know the provinces but will ask if i see the person again.

August 10, 201411 yr Could be one of two things in my estimation. 1. Checking out school colecting money for people that have left alreay. 2. I guess more for this one, checking on people working in schools without WP's.
August 10, 201411 yr Immigration will check if you are working legally and thus are in Thailand in accordance with your immigration status.
