The Finance Ministry is looking for ways to use deserted buildings in Bangkok to generate business interest

The Finance Ministry plans to use 281 deserted buildings in Bangkok to generate business interest.

Caretaker Finance Minister Thanong Bidaya (ทะนง พิทยะ) said 70% of licences for the construction of these buildings has been expired but officials are looking for legal ways to have them renewed.

Mr. Thanong said the buildings which still are in good conditions will be modified for business purposes. Those in a state of dilapidation will be demolished and the land used to generate benefits for the country, he said.

These buildings were deserted when Thailand was hit with the economic crisis almost a decade ago.

:D That's good news. The number of unfinished buildings is disgraceful. They look unsightly and I am sure are unsafe. Now what will be put up in their place? :o

A few of them could open as a franchise operation of Nana Plaza!
