Thailand sees 9.1% rise in exports to Cambodia in 2014 H1
By Digital Content

BANGKOK, Aug 11 - Bilateral trade between Thailand and neighboring Cambodia improved in the first six months of this year, according to a Thai commercial officer.

Jiranan Wongmongkol, director of the Thai International Trade Promotion Office in Phnom Penh said yesterday that Thai exports to Cambodia during the first half of this year rose 9.1 per cent year on year to reach US$2.34 billion or Bt75.69 billion.

Thailand’s main exports to China included petroleum, gems and jewelry, beverages, construction materials, sugar, cosmetics, soaps and skin care products, and vehicles and parts.

Mrs Jiranan said Cambodia’s imports from Thailand during the period climbed 59 per cent year on year to $257 million with key items being electrical machinery and parts, agricultural products, cable wires, ore and iron, garments, and shoes. (MCOT online news)

If this report is about a percentage rise in exports to Cambodia, why mention China? Am I missing something?

And how does a 9.1% rise in exports from Thailand to Cambodia morph into a 59%! rise in imports from Thailand?

Does that figure include all the workers who exported themselves back home earlier this year?

Because the last corrupt government bought it in, siphoned off the rest through the back door (made an incidental fortune, from the real rice), and now they're sending back Cambodia's original rice, all within a few months. Amazing hey? ;)

Does that figure include all the workers who exported themselves back home earlier this year?

and some of those who have decided hanging around to face justice isn't for them ?

does this number already include the number of exported expats due to travel visa clamp down?
