Renewing Passport before leaving Thailand - Do I need a new visa as well?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I will be leaving Thailand by the end of the year.

My current passport expires in December,
so I will go to my embassy in BKK to get a new one before I leave.

I'm currently in Thailand on a Non-O visa.

My question:
Do I need to get a new Visa, in my new passport, before leaving Thailand?

They will probably punch a hole in my old passport again to make it invalid.

I don't need a new Non-O.

Just want to make sure I won't be having any troubles at the airport on my way out.

Thanks

Best regards :-)

MaiRoo

Do you have a visa or an extension of stay from immigration?

A non-o visa would only allow a stay of 90 days. It seems that would expire before December unless you have a multiple entry visa and can go out for a new entry.

Hi Ubonjoe

I'm married to a Thai woman and have been living in Thailand for a couple of years now.

Once a year I go to the immigration office and get a new visa for one year.

I'm reporting every 90 days.

Been offered a job abroad, and won't be returning to Thailand before 2016.

You have been getting extensions of stay not visas.

When you get your new passport you will neeed to go to immigration and have your stamps transferred to your new passport.

You will not need a new extension before you leave unless your current one is expiring before you leave.

Thanks Ubonjoe

Was hoping I could show airport immigration both my passports.

And keep my new one as clean as possible

I'll be traveling abroad a lot, so I need all the empty pages I can get.

Best regards,
