Seven treated for ammonia inhalation after rice factory blast
The Nation

RAYONG: -- Seven residents of Rayong province suffered nausea and eyes and nose irritation after an ice-making machine near their community exploded on Wednesday morning, sending out ammonia fumes.

Police said the blast happened at the Sujira Pattana ice factory in Rayong's Muang district at 8:30 am.

The seven people were rushed to the Rayong Hospital but released after receiving treatment.

Tambon Choengnone Municipality dispatched two fire engines to spray water to control the spread of the gas. Officials were then able to turn off the valve of the ammonia gas.

The situation was brought under control in about an hour.

Prachoen Hengyi, the mayor of the municipality, said public health officials would check whether the gas had affected children at a nearby kindergarten school.

The work place in Thailand seems to be quite a dangerous place to be,

buildings falling down, boilers exploding, bombs in scrap yards, and all

the other accidents one never hears about, lack of any safety regulations,

cutting corners, and maintenance that is never done.working for a pittance ,

its a risky place to be.

How many times have we read of factory accidents here, especially in Rayong. When are the factory inspectors -if there are any- going to do the job they are paid for?

Maybe the reporter was Chinese, lets hope it was not a flyed lice factory.

They were running nonstop to meet demand from the ice bucket challenges.
