BANGKOK, Aug 21 -- The Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) is set to support the Thai Tourism 2015 Campaign recently initiated by the military-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).

ATTA president Sisdivachr Cheewarattanaporn told journalists on Thursday regarding the NCPO-initiated Thai Tourism 2015 campaign that the association is ready to coordinate with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports to support the smooth running of the campaign

He said further talks with other agencies would be held to discuss tourism-related strategies and activities for next year after the new minister of tourism and sports is formerly appointed.

Mr Sisdivachr expected the next minister of tourism and sports to understand tourism and tourist behaviour in order for the ministry to develop marketing plans to reach different target groups as well as to improve tourist attractions across the country.

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), meanwhile, said that it would announce the details the campaign in a press conference later on as talks on tourism plans and activities remain inconclusive. (MCOT online news)

Harmony all over the place again. Now see how they intend to implement the campaign. Targetting Brunei f.i. does not sound very convincing.

what would be their second choice, not support it ? $$$$$

Mr Sisdivachr expected the next minister of tourism and sports to understand tourism and tourist behaviour

The next minister of tourism will be a soldier, and so will be all the other ministers in the next cabinet, why does Mr Sisdivachr doubt that he will not understand his job ?

For some weird reason, this reminds me of Field Marshall Evgeny Shostakovich's meeting with a group of Russian dissident physicists. He was exasperated by them and exclaimed "if your all so smart, why don't you wear uniforms and march!"

Here are the details of the new campaign:

It will be called "Amazing" something

TAT will promote temples, elephants and markets.

Department of Tourism will continue to count anyone that enters Thailand for less than one year as a tourist.

We will predict record numbers of foreign tourist arrivals and tourism revenue for 2015 and then announce that we exceeded them.

We will announce throughout the year worthless awards that we have won given by business associates.

That should about cover everything.

Just about every year something happens here , protests , coups etc.

The Tourists numbers are down and along comes the Tourism Authority and spends millions and milions on advertising.

As Upena stated , Elephants , Temples , and other pleasant pictures will be shown.

Then the following year they have to do it all again.

It really gets monotonous.

how many people here know that elephants carry a lot of times: tuberculosis ?

and it can spread to humans...

for the doubters :
