A temple’s heli-pad is seized for trespassing on national park

BANGKOK: -- Army troops and forestry officials on Friday seized a helicopter landing pad of a forest temple in Phetchabun province after finding out that it encroaches on the Nam Nao national park.

The heli-pad sits on a one-rai plot of land in the national park. It was built by Pa Samyek forest temple in Tambon Wang Klang, Nam Nao district.

The abbot of the temple, Phra Kasame Arjinnasilo, earned notoriety after he was reported in several newspapers for putting one of his legs on a table while food was being arranged and kicking some chairs.

A loyal follower of the abbot, Mr Thammarat Thawil, told the officials that Phra Kasame regularly suffered from car sick and the heli-pad was built in order to enable the monk to travel by air instead of by road and to see his doctor at the clinic which is about 100 kilometres from the temple.

Mr Thammarat was however charged by forestry officials of trespassing on the national park. He was later released on 300,000 baht bail.

Another jet setting monk, T.I.T.

...Phra Kasame regularly suffered from car sick...

So give him a bicycle!!!

Greedy, corrupt scum who shames Buddhism

Leave the car park alone, where can the Ferrari be safely parked ?

Wonder what Buddha would say...

no wonder the Dalai Lama is not welcome in thailand! they dont practise the same religion than him!

I'm confused, I thought most religions tell us to put off the shackles of material things and live a simple life . . . a <deleted> helicopter????

I guess I'm too honest to become a Monk.

Wonder what Buddha would say...

Bloody franchisees !

I wonder of the good abbot owns a helicopter? Anyone know the going hourly rent rate for a four seater?

The helicopter would obviously have been with temple donation money.

Sheesh. This monk is a total idiot. I saw the video of him throwing a paddy where he was kicking chairs around and put his foot on the table... He looked like he was absolutely mullered on laowkaow.

I'm in the wrong business, wealth seems to be in the monkhood. Where do I sign up?

Is it really a big surprise when most Thais fervently practice Bahttism. Used to think that the money trees they put together was to raise funds but now it seems that they are really nothing but idols that are regularly worshipped!

The Dalai Lama had 3000 slaves. The temples were often in war against each others. Hacking off a hand or foot was common punishment.

Till now the Dalai Lama sees nothing wrong in this.

But he isn't welcome because China doesn't want him in Thailand.

i guess it will be Richard Gere, that will be disappointed,

but for others fellow tv members, just let add all these atrocity cited by H90 were abolished at the begining of the 20 century by the dalai lama(the 13 th) but still practised till the 2nd world war.

Yes H90 is talking history....dry.png

but in the modern thailand, monk are driving porsch, flying in their private jet or helicopter and not let forget sleeping with young boysdry.png

some of these monks make p diddy look the height of austerity

Do young thai boys have to kiss the monk's ring

The 300,000 baht bail was promptly paid in 10 bath coins...

Did he pay the 20 baht entry fee?

Did he pay the 20 baht entry fee?

The article seems to be about Thailand and a Buddhist temple helipad in Thailand.

Hey whats the problem doesnt every monk own some sort of aeroplane , this is the 21st century.

I think he means the national park entry fee. You may not have picked up on that immediately as we would be paying 200 baht instead of 20, being that us foreigners are all minted, with our helicopters and whatnot.

Why in blue blazes was the loyal follower Thammarat arrested instead of the bl**dy monk himself.

Is this another way for the loyal follower to make merit? "Okay, I'll go to jail for you, sire."

only after a good bum gun rinse....so not all bad

Is there any aspect of Thailand that isn't shameful?

While it should be noted that the vast majority of long term monks become monks for the reasons and conduct themselves in accordance with the temple rules, there is definitely a bad element within some temples.

The most annoying part about this story is that many of the donations which paid for all of this were made by dirt poor people.

Wonder what Buddha would say...

Nothing, he's busy turning over in his grave. smile.png

....forest temples are supposed to be the most plain..... most simple...... 'bare-bones' temples....

...I stayed at one for 18 days once....we had to walk barefoot....6 kilometers...and back...every crack of dawn...for some sustenance.....

...what pathetic phonies...

"...suffered from car sick and the heli-pad was built in order to enable the monk to travel by air instead..."

Amazing that people are expected to believe this nonsense...

In the room with the door sign 'No morals or integrity from this point forward'.
